yoga + sound journeys

Restorative Yoga

At the heart of Restorative Yoga lies the belief that surrendering to poses, with the support of props, free from discomfort and tension, can usher in a state of physical, mental, and emotional serenity. These classes unfold at a leisurely pace, enveloping participants in a soothing atmosphere of tranquility.

This practice has the ability to ::

  • Deeply relax the body

  • Still a busy mind

  • Release tension

  • Enhance the body's ability to heal itself

  • Balance the nervous system

  • Boost immunity

  • Draw our attention inward

  • Improve sleep

Sound Journey

Sound is woven into this practice during each pose, which will invite the body + mind to drop into an even deeper level of relaxation. It is, in effect, a form of massage at the cellular level. Sound vibrations from each instrument penetrate deep into the tissue, which improves circulation + speeds healing.

The ancient practice of sound medicine has been known to::

  • Move and release stagnant energy

  • Improve sleep

  • Lower stress

  • Both activate & relax the body

Symphonically grounding. Uplifting. Refreshing.

I call these fusions “Restorative” Sound Journeys

I offer private 1:1 sessions, as well as group sessions.
Expect to leave your practice feeling rested, restored, + rejuvenated.

I invited Sunni to lead a restorative sound journey for myself and some friends in my home. She arrived with an assortment of hand crafted tinctures + teas to sip on while we arranged ourselves on our mats — Sunni thought of everything. Once her instruments were carefully arranged, she began centering us with gentle warming movements before commencing on our sound journey. Restorative yoga — for those who have never tried it — is essentially holding a pose utilizing props in a manner that allows you settle in, to sink in + stay in that pose for a length of time. While in the pose you are serenaded with the hauntingly ethereal vibrations echoing of crystal bowls and a bevy of other instruments throughout the session as we deepen in and out of a series of poses. Sunni brings us into our final resting pose with her incredibly beautiful voice — not a dry eye in the room!
